If make a clean installation of 10.10 beta now, will it automatically upgrade to 10.10 (not beta) when it is officially released in a few weeks time?

Excellent! 9.04 is dying on my machine a little more each day and I'm not sure it will last another month.

10.10 beta is very very nice. I'm runing it on my work computer now. It is 100X better than 10.04 ever was this early in its development.
