View Full Version : [all variants] HP Pavilion a705w - Kernel panic out the wazzoo

So, I haven't had anything stop me from installing/running Ubuntu in *years*. Till today.

I got a HP Pavilion a705w that throws a bibles worth of kernel panic messages during install or boot. If I try to do a Alt. install, it panics when it tries to detect disks. Live disk, flips out well before it ever gets near a desktop. I installed Ubuntu on another box, then transfered it to the HP, panic. Used a old install sitting on a disk from a previous machine, panic. I have no clue.

Happens with every version of Ubuntu I have laying around. I'll try Debian tomorrow but I suspect the result will be the same.

Sux because I bought hardware for this box before I tried to install Ubuntu.

I see some acpi issue mentioned with some HPs but I have no clue what they mean.
