Hi,

I'm an Ubuntu Newbie so please let me know if you need any more info!

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and found that my keyboard and touchpad mouse were not working! So, after trying lot of things on the forums it is still not working...

To get around the problem I changed my kernel to include acpi=off, but this command stops the computer shutting down and causes the fan to run on high constantly, which is very annoying! So, I have resorted to entering the grub menu, selecting recovery mode kernel and selecting fail safe graphics mode every time I boot up my machine, not ideal but it works!

Is there any way of booting automatically in to failsafe graphics mode or is there another fix which I can attempt?
Thanks in advance from a frustrated new user!

How does the machine work if booted with a 10.04 live CD?

What graphics card do you have installed?
