when i tried to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 i have this problem
and this happened after downloading every thing relating to upgrading

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

then this one :

so what can i do to have a successful upgrading ?

10.10 is in beta, and one should expect a lot of strange things happening. Unless you are an experienced Ubuntu user I would recommend waiting till around Christmas before installing.

If you nevertheless want to take part in testing the new version, this forum will help you better:

Try disabling all non-ubuntu repositories and then try again. That includes the Medibuntu repository and all ppa's you have installed.

Good luck
