well, not really... lol

can't believe im making a post on a freekin' television commercial.. *doh*...

But I was a friends house earlier and he had 'the tube' on,
and there was an intel commercial, full of animated penguins! lol

I thought it was cool, but I never watch TV at home, so it may not be 'new'. But new to me.

All I could think of was Linux. lol

I thought, geez, MS can't be happy about this!
They probably hate all penguins now! haha

Anyone else seen it?

or is it something regularly used in intel commercials?

sorry for such a meaningless post.
yes i feel ashamed. lol

I don't have kids so I wouldn't know anything about the Madagascar film series.

Today, Intel launches its first-ever in-cinema advertisement campaign with the penguins from the DreamWorks Animation* "Madagascar" franchise. The penguins from the animated movie featured in the spot seek out the Intel® Core™i5 processor chip and its features. The penguins are after the smart performance and Intel® Turbo Boost Technology featured in the Intel Core i5 processor.

It's this kind of partnership that helps Intel shed its geeky image and demonstrate the fun side of technology that helps connect all of us to the product. Check it out on the big screen at a theatre near you. BTW the ad will run through September 30th so don't wait too long to get out and see it!

I also found this:

With more than 200 Linux desktops and 400 Linux servers, DreamWorks SKG is not only a leading producer of animated motion pictures but a major user of Linux as well.

I like that, it's been a while since I watched a youtube clip and laughed

I watched the video on you tube, too funny. It definitely implies that Tux has been looking for this kind of speed. "High five boys, now there's the kind of speed we've been looking for!"

I loved the Madagascar penguins! However, I had already appropriated the phrase "embracing the penguin" for my own basic guide for family/friends:

Well, they forgot to say that the integrated graphics sucks, but then, it's probably targeted towards server admins. Who else cares about fast cpus these days?

My Intel graphics plays 1080p on youtube, it hardly sucks. :)

Happy for you, (whatever your Intel graphics is) but benchmarks actually mean something when they are relative. The following tests don't seem to compare particularly well in favor of The Penguin.

Better Clarkdale support is I think a feature coming in the next few releases of the Intel drivers. I hear about it in the changelogs all the time, so apparently they are working on it. :)

Also, I saw in a benchmark before (benchmarks are hardly reliable in my opinion but it helps to have numbers) that on some intel chips, Ubuntu scores higher than Windows. I will look for it.

Edit: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux_windows_part1&num=3

Ubuntu takes home some for the win, which is ok. I am more interested in more things working than performance, so eventually we can have both. :D

Are you sure you posted the right link? Just to quote:

When running at 1920 x 1080, the Clarkdale i3 530 graphics were 11.35 times faster under Windows 7 than in Linux! Ubuntu

I have very serious doubts Intel is going to improve its graphics stack any time soon. It's been shaky or badly broken (depends on who you ask) from about 2008, so hopefully, you are right about the next few releases.

It did win in a few benchmarks with Intel I believe, I did not specifically mean the clarkdale (I have no idea what a clarkdale is except what I see in the xorg-intel changelogs) Also, I do know the drivers are terrible. I have hopes though. As I said my Series 4 Mobile works quite well for everything except wine.

Cool, but unfortunately, I can't share your hopes after having to deal with Intel's gma500 for the past 18 months. Perhaps I should read some changelogs.
