mkfs.vfat on working ext3 partion

hi.
is there a any way to reverse mkfs.vfat with - I option.
I mistakenly did mkfs.vfat -I /dev/sda ...(sda is my main drive where the os is loaded) now my machine wont start. cant see any partions with a live cd.

Any help is appreciated.

The short answer is no. The long answer is that if you don't maintain proper backups, you can try running testdisk and pray that it can recover some of your files.
