well i use ubuntu a lot but there are somethings that it cant do and i need to use windows for. the thing is that i cant install windows via os cd because it won't consider my usb hdd an official hdd, it says to remove all other portable hds or something before installing so it prevents me from getting windows.
are there any other ways to get windows xp and still be able to keep ubuntu?
thanks!

Don't understand your question, but if you're asking how to install XP to an external drive, you're basically out of luck. MS does NOT want you to be able to carry around a portable installation of their OS products; therefore, unlike with Ubuntu, they do not provide a way to install their OSs to external drives or USB sticks.

They do provide ways to install FROM external drives or USB sticks -- but that's an entirely different thing.
