View Full Version : first sale doctrine being overturned for software sales

this means you dont own the right to sell software you bought.
Open source of course is exempt.
This company objected and ebay was forced to remove the add.

I have yet to desire to sell any software I ever bought. I think people should be able to sell whatever software they want if they bought it.

True, I occasionally sell old computer games on eBay, I don't expect to get a huge amount for them, but someone else gets to enjoy them. Anyone looking for cheap copies of MW2 on eBay probably aren't going to buy at full whack either way.

I'm tired of them lobbyists.

That's lame. I don't pirate anything. I don't even have restricted codecs on my linux partition. However, I think this is a bit ridiculous.

Just one more reason to avoid propriety software and stay with FLOSS especially if the propriety software is not free as in beer.
