Hi,
My name is Marshall Haire. I have recently upgraded my Ubuntu from version 9.10 to 10.04. When I select the normal boot, it loads up to the login in screen and then I log in, but after a minute once I'm logged in my computer just shuts down. I had never had an issue like this before with version 9.10. I even have tried adding noapic and apci=off. I am confused on where to troubleshoot this issue next. Below is my configuration for my system. Also, I am typing this on the forum in failsafeX.

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo V2.0 MSI-7030
Memory : 2Gigabytes
Hard drives: 1 80 GB Windows XP NTFS, 1 80GB Ubuntu Linux 10.04 ext4 and
1 400GB NTFS for storage.
CD or DVD: DVD-RAM drive
Floppy Disk: 1 Floppy disk 1.44MB
Nvidia 6200A AGP video card 256MB

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Marshall

How does the machine work if booted with a 10.04 live CD?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I did try the 10.04.1 Desktop edition Live CD and it worked. I backed up my data from the command line and reinstalled the operating system with this Live CD. I am backup and running again. Thanks for your help.
