mouse not working in ubuntu 9.01

hello everyone!
i have installed ubuntu 9.01 in my i3 processor system without any partition.i hope its installed properly.now when i try to boot it.It show me the main screen with main menu bar,but cursor is struck up.i can not move the cursor.i have installed ubuntu thrice but the same problem continues:confused:
.please help me if anyone can.

I assume it is 9.10. Are you sure the installation medium is reliable? It is a dual boot install? Or a Wubi install?

In my opinion, instead of putting efforts in solving the problem, go for 10.04.1. It is out now, supports more hardware, so you might want to give it a try.
