Mr C.W. HUANG (of Taiwan) is working on Android-x86 project which ports Android to x86 hardwares. Up to now, the Android-x86 is working fine on ASUS EeePC as Mr HUANG is staff of ASUS. The Android 2.2 (Froyo) for Android-x86 is under heavy development.
If you are interested in this project, you may eager to compile from the source yourself in order to suit your hardwares. I have a Gigabyte TouchNote T1028X which is equipped with eGalax touchscreen and Intel Atom CPU. This piece of hardware is ideal for me to test this project.
The tutorial is here (http://samiux.blogspot.com/2010/09/howto-compiling-android-x86-on-ubuntu.html).
