I have a 10.4 Remix on a 7" eeepc. It has to be the coolest desktop ever.

Just installed a 10.10 Beta on a PC, and wonder what I have to do in order to convert the stock desktop (Gnome?) into a "remix" type desktop with all those cool icons and menu organization.

TIA

Owen

BTW, the install of 10.10 Beta "just worked" ™. Great!

Been trying to get this to work myself.

In package manager you will find remix launcher, so install that.
goto https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/desktop-switcher - download compile and install - Check the dependencies on the website first.

Switcher will appear under the preferences menu.

It's a bit messy and tbh, Im looking for a better solution... check this thread and see if it works..

I tried this, but couldn't get it to work 100%
Also added it netbook launcher to start up, sort of worked but keeps reverting to standard desktop when you select a launcher.

Post back if you find a solution.

Thanks, I will try the Desktop-Switcher. An associate asks why not just install the UNR on the PC, so will try that as well.

Thanks for responding

Installing it on the PC was going to be the next thing!!
Not sure how the resolutions will work as the display is optimised for netbook screens.
