Need Installation help with Ubuntu 10.04

Trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 in a Windows 7 virtual machine.

The installation gets to a blank screen with two small icons at the bottom, a keyboard and a person, then it briefly flashes a blank black screen and the virtual machine shuts down, this is all before it makes it to the installation menu screen.

I have Ubuntu 8.04 installed on this same computer on another virtual machine and it works fine.

The computer is a Dell Studio XPS 9100, Intel Core i7 920 with 8Gig of ram running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Could be a graphics card issue. What graphics card do you have installed?

You say 8.04 works, have you tried either 9.04 or 9.10 before jumping to 10.04?

What VM program? How much memory have you given the VM?
