But IBM and Novell are pretty tight for the Linux on the mainframe business, so it might decide that having SUSE in pocket would be a good thing. If IBM is serious about the OpenOffice.org fork, Symphony, then it might also want to look at getting some of the Novell folks who've been behind Go-OO.org.

The Oracle angle is more interesting in my view. Oracle has set itself up to be the latest "bad guy" in the Open Source world viz. Google and OpenSolaris. Taking out GO-OO.org might also be another (minor) aim for them, thus making Novell's Linux business that (little bit) more attractive to them.

As for who I'd like to buy it? How about nobody, and SUSE gets a management buy-out? Otherwise, I'd say probably IBM would be the best bet.
