Certainly a marked improvement.

Certainly a marked improvement.

Agreed. It reminds me of the aurora.

Certainly better than Lucid's. Still vast room for improvement there...

I can't say I dislike it, but I can't say I like it either. I always change the stock wallpaper anyway.

Who cares. They will end up changing it for 11.04 anyway

It's better but still a mass bunch of blurry colours. I'm using this one at the moment with the ambiance theme and faenza icons. There are some decent images being bundled with 10.10.

It is a rip off.

I favor originality more. Hardy and Ibex were the last good wallpapers :)

Definitely better than the other one, which was terrible. Just ok though, compared with Fedora's default wallpaper which is really nice.

Hardy is still the best default wallpaper in my opinion by a long shot. Having an animal codename for each release means not making a default wallpaper based on it seems like a wasted opportunity! Wish they'd start doing that again.

Good. :D

Much better, but still has the damn blur effect... I hate blur!

But this is tolerable.

Agreed, the blur is annoying to me. But it's easily changed so it's no showstopper.

I like the other one better. This one gives me the feeling of looking directly in to the sun. Talk about distracting. The orange dots have nothing on this.

It's blurry and has too much contrast. But at least it isn't the joke the last one was.

My eyes burn everytime I hit the login screen. Sometimes I use the computer in the dark, and it really is too bright.

Then you shouldn't be using the computer in the dark anyway. That's what lights are for. :P

I figured that there would be almost as many complaints about the new wallpaper as the old wallpaper. Not many things Linux folks love to complain about more than Ubuntu's default artwork.

No, but its a improvement over both Lucid's default & the original proposed one for Maverick.

I think it's great! Ubuntu is really becoming a beautiful OS - by default.

The latest wallpapers are boring. I always change to some of my own.

I favor originality more. Hardy and Ibex were the only good wallpapers :)

Fixed that for you.

That said I'd say that there is indeed too much fuss about what the default wallpaper is. I'm with kmandla (http://kmandla.wordpress.com/2010/09/15/ubuntu-10-10-default-wallpaper-is-here/) on this topic.

Nice. Still a bit too bright for my tastes though, everyone's got different tastes so you can't make a wallpaper that's gonna please everyone.

I'd prefer something a bit darker with more sort of natural colours, I find this one a little overpowering.

Better than that other one with those big ugly orange blobs though.

Better though I would prefer it if the orange was purple and the purple was orange ;)

I liked the one right before this latest one. The one with the deeper orange spots added to the Lucid one.

But, I also agree with those who say it is too much fuss over nothing. How many of us actually stick with an OS's default wallpaper, anyway?
