so today i bought this ssd http://www.mushkin.com/Digital-Storage/SSDs/MKNSSDCL60GB.aspx

its very speedy in windows 7 so far but im wondering to test ubuntu on it

what should i expect from a normal installation

tell us your experiences aswell

well, I got an OCZ Vertex drive about 5 months ago. It is fantastic. The install went ok, but not very fast. I think it may have had something to do with the install disk. after install, I rebooted and it was blazing fast.

I still don't really notice a performance cut from a fresh drive.

I did install 2.6.33 kernel which supports automatic trim. But other than that I haven't really done any "maintenance".

I got a 30GB and do run into space limitations, but I also use an external drive to store my music and movies for the laptop.

in all down specs it comes to the processor and ram that really limit a ssds speed but thats in some cases

im getting another 60gig one and raid card and setting up a raid0 for it after i get my i5-750
