Hello everyone

This is my first post since I have been using Ubuntu. Great distro, very few problems, good support.

I have a problem printing to a Panasonic Photocopier in my department that is also used as an ethernet printer. The printer model is DP-4530 and is used by everyone from windows 7 without problems.

I am trying to setup all the new machines with ubuntu instead of windows but this problem is really a show stopper.

Any help someone ?

Cheers

If you got a spare windows/apple mac machine you can always print through it.
if you go through a windows machine I recommend you pdfcreator (http://www.pdfforge.org/) which is "easy enough", I heard the Apple mac alternative is pretty straightforward.
Unfortunately it seems tht printer manufacturer aren'T going to provide cups driver for linux even if mac OSX relies on cups for printing (I'm in the same case with an oki c810).

I have tried the dp-4520 drivers, they install ok but the printouts never reach the printer.
I have managed to print through a windows xp virtual machine that runs on oracle virtual box that has the windows printer driver installed.
It works ok for me, but for the rest I intend to buy a printer that supports linux right out of the box.
I am thinking Kyocera.
