I don't know what to do with them. Neither have RAM or video cards, and one doesn't have an hard drive. I was considering installing Linux on one (http://mac.linux.be/) but I don't know what hardware to get. I know that they take SD RAM, but that's about it. Do do macs take "mac specific" hardware, or could would anything (that fits) work?

I believe SDRAM is SDRAM

Anything that fits, works (AFAIK) there is no special "Mac Hardware"

Macs use normal SDRAM, IDE Harddrives, etal.

Keep in mind that it's getting harder and harder to get anything that supports the PPC platform anymore. Fedora doesn't*. Ubuntu doesn't officially. And forget flash support for PPC at all.

I've been thinking about putting something on my G5 as a dual boot. At different times I've tried Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu. The lack of flash was the deal breaker. I hear good things about Gentoo and Slackware on PPC. Expect a lot of tinkering.

As far as distros that officially support PPC, there are a few:

PowerPC (http://distrowatch.com/search.php?category=All&origin=All&basedon=All&notbasedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=powerpc&status=Active)

PPC64 (http://distrowatch.com/search.php?category=All&origin=All&basedon=All&notbasedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=ppc64&status=Active)

*EDIT:

I may have jumped to conclusions about Fedora. I just took a closer look at their listing on DistroWatch. It doesn't look like they supported PPC in Fedora 13 but are in rawhide.

If you don't know what to do with them you can mail them to me.

You can use Gnash or swfdec.

I'm using Debian stable PPC on a G4 I use for playing mp3's in my shop, using randomplay and mpg321, I have the config file set to not repeat a track for a minimum of 40 days. The thing sits in a corner running headless with an audio cable connected to an old Kenwood receiver I'm in the process of restoring.

Steaming piles, both, for me.

Not that there would be a choice, if you use ppc. Besides, GNASH supports YouTube now.
