Hi forum,

first I want to excuse if this is not the most appropriate forum to post the idea. The idea though seems good to me.

Udev is good. it generates device nodes automatically (good for usb sticks plug an d play).

THOUGH I cannot see the point why all my STEADY fixed hardware should be rediscorverd at each boot.

QUESTION> cannot UDEV be runned ONLY once each kernel update and the resulting device nodes be keeped.
Hence I could have a boot at which GDM can start quite quick (not having to wait for my graphic card to be made a node each time).

thank you for inspiration.

alex

Like the Profile Kernel boot parameter ?

Anyways certain internal fixed hardware got plug'n'play-like characteristics, i.e. HotSwap Sata Carry HDD
