System requirements compiz

I have a intel pentium 4, 511 ram (i think) And i am going to buy a nvidia geforce 5600 or 5700.

Can i run compiz on that?

You can use compiz with that but maybe not with the greatest effects.

Also i would recomend getting the cheaper gpu and with the saved money see if you can get more ram.

Geforce 5600 and 5700, both are quite capable for compiz. My only worry is 512 RAM. It might slow down the whole process. Try increasing it to atleast 1GB.

Ok, i will buy the graphics thingy and then only have to wait until daddy allows me to buy more ram ;)

I just checked how much Compiz uses on my 10.04 install: 90M, but only 18M resident.

And I'm running full effects on a lowly Eeepc. I do have 2 gig RAM though.
