First: Have you installed all updates to 10.04 using a wired connection?

I am encountering the same problem with drivers, but i can't install any updates because it won't connect to wired networks either.

Have you enabled hardware drivers in system -> administration -> hardware drivers (or something like that)?

Hey, I have tried all of the above, but, good news! Turns out that my school hadn't gotten around to turning on the network CAT 5 ports yet, so my problem connecting to a wired network had nothing to do with Ubuntu, and everything to do with our tech department being slow. Once I figured that out, I went in to tech and told them to turn them on, they did, I connected and downloaded the appropriate wireless drivers, and wirless and wired works now.

Thanks to everyone who helped me, I appreciate it muchly!
