What do you get when you start Ubuntu? Grub rescue menu? There should be some error messages.

I only can see a black screen anything else.

I donīt see any message from the SO.

The virtualBox's machine changes the screen resolution and it deads with a cursor situated at NORTH-WEST of the screen.

Thanks for the help.

If it is a fairly new install, without lots of config involved, I will recommend to reinstall Ubuntu. This time a fresh install of 10.04.

Can you boot into the recovery mode? Hold down Shift as soon as the Virtual PC starts. Select Recovery Mode from the Grub Menu that pops up.
