Do you want the real story or random funny quotes?

For the funny quote department.

"The Care Bear Cousins take full responsibility for the assassination of the president of My Little Ponies."

the little pony went to drink milk and stood on the bomb-trap!! Now the specialist guy is moving to disarm the bomb as the little pony is the last of its kind!!

That's a pretty hilarious picture, even if it is toys.

Must you make baby jebus cry?

Some things are not a social commentary or some sort of insightful reflection upon the group mentality of the world. Some things are funny because they are funny.

The bomb squad...blowing up a stuffed pony....whats not to love??

I don't know. Would you rather take the risk and let kids in the school play with the stuffed pony of unknown origin? I wouldn't want my kid to.

Yes i probably would, but so as not to derail the thread any further, I will simply state that blowing things like stuffed ponies is in fact, funny.

No. I'd probably pick it up and throw it away. ;)

"But think of the Children . . . ."

For the Sapirs in Israel, they respond to 30 to 40K of these types of incidents per year.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not one of the "think of the children" people. I wouldn't mind my kid riding a bicycle without a helmet, or have an occasional cold or something trivial.

But a bomb/fake bomb thread is something to be taken seriously, IMO. Just my two cents.

but there wasn't a threat. some ijjit was walking along, saw a stuffed horse, and decided to inconvenience everyone by reporting it as "suspicious".wouldn't have mattered if it was a horse, a shoebox, or any other object.

How did you know that before they blew up the stuffed animal? Think about it for a second. You see something colorful and flamboyant, unclaimed at a school, and kids are automatically attracted towards colorful toys. If someone wanted to harm the children, one way to do it would be to rig a harmless looking toy. And again, these are just my opinions. Yours might differ.

Yeah, nobody would ever used a horse as a trick to harm somebody! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_Horse)

i meant threat the verb, as in a called in bomb threat.
you are right, that any object you can't throughly examine might be a threat under a set of circumstances. that is a truism. its no way to live though. think of all the possible reasons a toy might end up in the street. probably something like 99.99999% of the time that some kid just forgot it. the other .000001% of the time, it is used to trick trojans.
