I was trying to install 10.04 but I'll not sure what to burn to the CD. Where do I find the disc images, and how do I know which one to use? Thank you!

I download my .iso from here Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (Lucid Lynx) (http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/)

Try using a torrent. It's a lot faster. ;)

Just go to the Ubuntu Homepage (www.ubuntu.com) and click "Download Ubuntu" and select 32-bit or 64-bit depending on you system. After that burn the iso image onto a disk and proceed to install.

Thanks, but download-speed wasn't the issue. The question was basically "After downloading the file, what do I burn to the disc?"

Hiyah Sugoi,

You can find the Ubuntu releases here~ http://releases.ubuntu.com/

Lucid Lynx is probably the one you want, So ~ http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/

The most common is titled "ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-i386.iso"
That is for 32 bit systems.

Or if you want the same thing, but want to download it as a torrent (usually faster, better) instead, it would be titled
"ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-i386.iso.torrent "

You just download that .iso image, Once it is downloaded,
go to the file location, and it will be an ".iso" file,
that file goes into your burning program to put on disc.
burn it to a disc, with a program that burns .iso images...(the file you just downloaded)
And you are ready to use the CD. :)

You should have a ubuntu-10.04.1.iso or something similar downloaded to where ever you download things on your computer. What Operating System are you on that you downloaded it?

Actually, it turns out I had the right file (the whole download). The problem was when I tried to demo Linux, it refused. It said

"(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on//filesystem.squashfs failed: Input/output error
Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs"
