FTP Help

Hey guys please help. My ftp worked fine before. Im usin webmin and the users options are buggy and wen i went to del a user to change it's dir i del all /var/www Folder. I have put the www folder back and created a user called www-data and made it the owner of the folder. The prob im getting is FTP not connect to var/www No matter how many times i try creating a user in the www folder All i get is incorrect login.

Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 ProFTPD 1.3.1 Server (Debian) [***.***.**.**]
Command: USER www-data
Response: 331 Password required for www-data
Command: PASS *********
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server

Please can somebody help me out

p.s the error only happens in var/www / i can create a ftp for a /home user

ok my bad all ftp is down :( It is like webmin is not creating it ftp compatible. (new install of webmin) Previous users still have ftp
