Not sure where to put this but here goes:

I am trying to extract @mail addresses from flat files so I won't just have the To:, Cc:, and Bcc: but also anything in the body.

I have the flat files so just trying to get the trimmed @mail addresses into another flat file, if possible with names. A script would be nice so I can tweak it for my specific purposes.

Surely this must have been done before just can't seen to come up with the right keywords to find it.

PS: any suggestions where to put this in a better place would be appreciated.

I think you might find the desired audience in the Programming sub-forum.
