I'm relatively new to the Ubuntu forums. I just found out "The Backyard" section was removed according to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1511998. I'm looking for a place to primarily discuss religion and things of the sort, but I don't like being bombarded by porn or the crazy sort. So..that throws out most of the image boards! (4chan etc.) Does anyone know a clean place with good traffic? "The Backyard" sounded perfect! But..It's gone :( Thanks in advance. (Not looking for a religious discussion as.. is against the rules.)

maybe check out 'ATS'.
(above top secret)
discussions of all kinds, well moderated, no porn or junk like that.
you might need to toss on a "tinfoil hat" for some of it, but theres a religion section there you might dig, open to discuss as you like.
i never visit that section, but many do. lol

In the past, religious discussion has caused problems.

In the interests of having a safe place for people who are interested, I am happy for intelligent and respectful discussions about religion to be taken here (http://lisati.homelinux.com/forum/) or here (http://lisati.homelinux.com/bb/) instead.

To say the least!

(oh, we're talking about in the forums, not through history.) lol

Our little forum, (see my avatar title for the address) allows for the discussion on just about any topic, providing that mutual respect is maintained.

Here are our simple rules:

It seems that there are options available for people whose choice of topics don't sit comfortably with the CoC here. That, in my opinion, is good news. :D

If you want to discuss controversial topics, you have your pick of forums. USENET continues to exist, and, with a properly-configured killfile, is actually decent for that sort of thing.

The rules as we enforce them may be a bit stifling, but then the forums here are primarily intended to be for mutual technical support.

Nice place, nice people. Prob'ly not for the thin-skinned, and occasional profanity is tolerated. It may not be what the OP asked for (profanity-free, theological discussion? For that go here (http://the-highway.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary.html)) because the humor gets a little dark at times, but it's all in good fun. There's Ubuntu/Linux support there, talk about/compare other distros, and lots more. Very fun.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry if this seems sort of silly to you. I just registered to the Ubuntu forums recently because I was having problems (still having) with a laptop. Then I noticed in the rules section a place called "The Backyard" for religious discussion etc. I thought, "Oh, cool I'll remember that for later." I imagined it to be just like 4chan minus the pornography. "Perfect!" The reason why I loved 4chan was because of the broad exchange of.. "ideas," especially in the "paranormal" section. Both crazy and serious. And, I really felt like if I spoke, I could have made a difference. But even if you stay within the "safe" section.. well, it's not safe. Anyway I've pretty much given up on 4chan and other similar image boards. I'm not really looking for a "religious" forum exactly, since, if I speak there.. Then what? They'll know everything and then some I imagine. Perhaps if the religious site was like, about..a bunch of religions.. As for the Google thing, well I have no idea what to type. I'll guess I'll start typing some random keywords and hope I get something. Thanks again.
