Hi,

My computer is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.2 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, but I try to install UBUNTU 10.01.1 desktop-amd64 and the following message appears.

This Kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU
unable to boot - please use a kernel appropiate for your CPU.

what can I do.... Thanks

I think you are trying to install a Virtual Machine. If so go for the 32-bit version. For using a 64-bit version inside a virtual machine, enable virtualisation from BIOS, if there is an option.

EDIT: It is 10.04.1 not 10.01.1. Just shared some very worthy knowledge with you. :-)
