Screen images are too wide

Not sure if these two problems are related or not.

Screen too wide is most noticeable when I view images of people I know. They all look two stone heavier than they are, the poor things.

Also, I constantly have to zoom out when I'm browsing web pages so that I can see all the information. Getting everything to fit actually makes the text to hard to read.

P.s. Hardware is a fujitsu siemens espiron mobile (laptop)

Change your screen resolution. It sounds like your screen resolution is not appropriate for the screen size. What desktop are you using?
