Buntu Man
September 4th, 2010, 09:52 AM
First of all, I am new to Ubuntu. It is a great experience. Linux rocks...:KS
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my hard disk (40GB) already hosts my Windows XP ( Installed 1st ) on the C: partition (My system is nearly 10 years old).
First I was able to boot to XP(through GRUB, which was installed by default).
now since 2-3 days
When i select XP , the OS doesn't boot and only a BLANK Screen ( when I select XP to boot from GRUB Menu, I go to the Windows not turn off/shutdown properly menu and when i select to boot windows normally from the old worked setting i get the BLANK screen without any cursor but a totally blank screen which i am talking about ) for eternity. The processor is working heavily(which i can make out from the deafening fan speed). And all left for my option is switching off directly. But booting ubuntu causes no problem.:sad::sad:
Now, i want to solve this problem and without losing any valuable data that i have in that hard-disk.
Please help friends... My only hope lies with you...
Thank you in advance and anticipation...[-o<
Note : I have tried using fixboot command but dint worked BUT I have not used fixmbr command because i dont know how to use it.
