changing notification icons

Hi, I really love the monochrome notification icons in lucid, but when an app (for example, the screenlets manager) plonks their icon in the notification 'area' they are most definitely not monochrome. Finding an icon and changing it is child's play everywhere else but for the notifications. Right clicking on them doesn't offer a chance of swapping its icon.

So I suppose that the icons I wish to change are somewhere in the usr/share/*appname* files, where I would have to go through them one by one? or is there an easier way of creating some visual consistency with the notification icons?
