I would guess the Indian sub-continent. There is a big push in that part of the world for FOSS/FLOSS.

well keep in mind that in some parts of the world they don't have internet. And these parts might be just the ones where Ubuntu is doing great. Some organizations are sending free Ubuntu computers to parts in for example Africa you know.

I always had the felling that Linux it's very popular in India.
Are there any Indian forum members that can tell me if I'm right?

When I see blog posts by people in India, they are more times than not using or referring to Red Hat or Fedora.

That's strange... I've been using Ubuntu since 7:04 and sending usage stats back but Peterborough (UK) lacks a logo ?

Well India too has predominant Windows Market. But govt has planned to provide laptops with Linux to the underprivileged sections with very reasonable cost, so may b tht may bring it into more light.

I just want to add tht many of them do know about Linux, but ubuntu....NO! & hv tht prejudice about Linux giving them 'Linuxophobia':-)

Ubuntu is most popular in Europe i just found it.

In the US most popular is Windows 95 cuz of Billy Gates.

I think there Should be the capital city of Ubuntu.

maybe hmm London UK? and some better logo. maybe England Flag and in the corner of the flag existing Ubuntu logo ? like Australia has.

wouldnt it be great ?

there should be even some song sort of anthem people could recognise it is Ubuntu. the existing ubuntu booting sound is a crap.

Official Ubuntu sound song or anthem should be i think "British Anthem" that would be great. ""God save Ubuntu and the Queen ....."" people would recognise that Ubuntu is as great as Britain is !!!!!

what do you guys think ?

If you know any history or politics, then your answer is the best! I wouldn't answer where Macedonia is unless I had weeks of time to respond to the angry posts. ;)

Um, no.

I can post a lot of different metrics, but not one of them post-2000 would mention Win95 anywhere near the top.

My father runs a school in Namuwango, Uganda. I am currently installing Ubuntu on all the donated computers and setting up a wireless network for the school. If anyone wants to see the school and the children, here is a link; Warning: it is a tear jerker.

Well yeah, it least in the tech colleges where I study its rather popular like say 30% to 50% users dual boot. One reason could be the overwhelming dependence of linux on HIGH speed internet, something which is available ONLY at college here.
