9.10 Encrypted Install Problems

Hello. i have been trying to do an encrypted installation of ubuntu 9.10 on my lenovo idea pad. everything works well up to the screen labeled "finishing the installation". the installation is stuck at 26% on that screen at "setting users and passwords". i am using the alternate cd, i did check the cd for errors prior to starting. im using the intstructions on this page

being new to ubuntu i guess im suffering growing pains....:-x.....i went ahead and shut down the computer and started all over again. did everything the same way i did before but it worked the second time around....dont know why since i did not do anything different the second time.
