I'm just looking through some gnome wallpapers.

Does anyone know how this person got the folder view on the left like it is?

I'd guess at some sort of dock

Terminal could be tilda.

Of course - they could both be wrong ...

Looks like the "Folder View" plasmoid in KDE 4. Although the other widgets don't look like plasmoids.

The terminal could be tilda or just another terminal with real transparency set to max.

The dock's embedded on the desktop, it's what I do.

How to do it (http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2007/08/howto-completely-transparent-shell-on.html)

As for the icons, that looks like Docky for the icons.

it's GLX-Dock for the dock and for the desklets too (clock and dustbin).
the calendar could be a conky
the terminal is maybe Tilda but could be GLX-Dock too.
I don't know for the side bar (a mockup ?), but you could make something similar with GLX-Dock.
