View Full Version : [ubuntu] Belkin N wireless USB device

September 1st, 2010, 02:07 AM
I used Synaptic to install the ndisgtk and that worked fine....I downloaded the .inf file off the cd and that seemed to work fine (green light came on on the wireless USB) - however, it doesn't show me as having any wireless networks in range or anything, and I can't connect to the internet.

I'm connected now with an ethernet cord :)

I have no idea how code works in Linux, so if someone can help me out I'd appreciate it. I teach gifted kids, but I have NO IDEA wth is going on right now....and I just want to make the stupid wireless connection work.

thank you!!!

Hi, connie and thank you for joining the community. We have a great Ubuntu Wireless Troubleshooting Guide (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessTroubleShootingGuide) that explains the common steps for getting a wireless adapter working. I'm not seeing your device on the Supported Wireless Network Card page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported) but it doesn't mean it can't work. I hate to give you a long document to read but unless I'm there operating your machine I can't follow the steps as well as you can. I want your wireless connection to work! Please check out the guide and post any questions you have. For immediate assistance you can also find me in irc channel #ubuntu-us-ny from 8am to 10am or I'll be on for about another half hour. You can also try channel #ubuntu but it's usually pretty busy in there and difficult for one voice to be heard :D
