View Full Version : [ubuntu] A Different Three Monitor Setup

August 31st, 2010, 06:41 PM
I have a Lenovo W510 with a docking station. This gives me a possible three video screens. Since I use compositing I can't use Xinerama which is actually fine by me. I do wish Twinview wasn't "twin" only but that's a whole other discussion. What I would like to do is this:

Have my laptop screen and one monitor show X (with Twinview) and have the other monitor show a plain old tty. I don't even mind hitting ctrl-alt to be able to get to the text side. I don't know if this is possible but it's what I would like to do.

Actually what I would like to do is have three monitors as one workspace/desktop (the ability to drag windows between them) with compositing working properly but I don't see that happening from what I am reading.

Any advice on either solution would be greatly appreciated!
