All

A annoying problem.
Upgraded from Karmic to Lucid (no clean install so to speak).
Changed the visual effects to normal, but I somehow can't move a window to my 2nd desktop.

Changed the window manager from Compiz to metacity using the compiz fusion icon, but no result.

Any idea what to do. If not exactly clear what I mean, please ask directions.

All ideas are welcome at the moment

While I can't say exactly where you'll find it in the specific application, some applications have a setting for "show on all desktops". I'd look for that.

Do you have the "menu" button shown in your windows?
Opposite of the min/max/close buttons?
So, something like
" X-Close/v-Minimize/^-Maximize ______Title______ Menu "
?

If so, just click the menu button and choose
"move to workspace down, or 2,3,4" , or "only on this workspace"

If your menu button is not shown,
it is easy to get/show using ubuntu tweak,
but Im not sure how to do it through gconf.
