Dependency error catch

Hi,
I am downloading individual packages (with dependency) for well-known and useful softwares and want to download them manually. Well not manually, but I want shell script to do that for me. I want to know how can I catch the dependency error given by dpkg and use the package name it is complaining not to be installed? I have it as deb file and want the installer to go there and do it for that.

Any idea how to catch the message, even as text?
