EDIT: tried to make it a bit more clear :)

My friend is trying to install Ubuntu.
I've given him my USB loader and my CD, both have worked for me earlier today on my PC. It doesn't matter which he uses, it always freezes on the wallpaper screen (the purple and black background with the lens flare) just after the Ubuntu loader; and the install window wont load. He has created his own USB loader, with the same problem. Mine loads up within 30 seconds after the Ubuntu loading screen, yet his is still hanging about 20 minutes in.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Sam.

Bump.

The screen it freezes on is this:

The mouse doesn't appear either, I thought maybe he should just wait longer, but after 30 minutes it seemed like it wasn't going to go anywhere.

I might as well post incase someone else has this problem. I seemed as if Ubuntu didn't support his graphics card, because after putting in a new one, everything worked perfectly.
