My system is really really messed up at the moment. I'm running Puppy Linux off a USB. I'm trying to boot my Ubuntu partition. I was in grub and tried typing

root (hd0,8)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-24-generic

but grub says that it can't find the file. I'm at a loss for why, because the file is there. I've been swapping drives in and out a lot, which complicates things somewhat. Any ideas
