Well, if they run an OS and it is in the poll. I would prefer if it was a current count.
Thanks

One PC dual booting between the Lucid and Maverick versions of Ubuntu as per my signature. That'll change soon as I intend to install Kubuntu on a new drive, replacing one of the others.

All the laptops, netbooks and desktops I use are dual boot using Windows and Wubi. I refuse to restrict computers to just having one operating system.

On my servers I use Ubunte SE, but I am thinking about moving to Windows server due to exchange etc.

At work we need windows on our workstations to use specialised hardware and sofware. However I have installed a Wubi install on nearly every machine. There are about 30 staff in our company. Most people choose to use Windows even though the option is there for them to use Ubuntu. They choose to use what they know and are used to.

We have two main servers in work, one uses Windows server and the other uses Ubuntu server.

So for me its a mixed batch. I wouldn't just use one OS.

Mostly Linux. Some OS X. One Win7 VM.

Six machines running Linux only for various server / firewall purposes. Plus an Ubuntu VM on my MBP.

Have a Macbook Pro and Mac Mini running OSX. The MBP is my primary desktop machine, Mini is the "media machine" - I couldn't get Xorg to cooperate with my projector the way I wanted.

Bought Win7 just to try out. I have a few software packages that are Windows-only (radio programmers and such) that were previously on an old Win2K VM. I *like* Win7. Sacrilege, I know! :P It works beautifully in a VM on the Mac and integrates well with OS X thanks to VMWare's tools. Not anywhere near to using it as a primary OS here, but am looking forward to upgrading from XP at work when I get a new machine.

Counting my work PC I have 3 with Ubuntu x64. My main computer has 2 profiles, one for me and one for our kid. This computer is also Dual boot with Windows XP for games

My wifes laptop is Ubuntu x32. I had her try it and she loved it. All she really does is web browsing, mostly Facebook.

My work computer is Ubuntu x64 with 2 Windows XP VMs. One is my work Desktop and the other is a test VM for patching. This PC is also Dual boot but only in the event that management yells at me for having Ubuntu ;).

Almost forgot. I have a iBook G4 that I loaded with Ubuntu Netbook edition at my house. It is really just a toy for me to try different Operating systems on. Thinking of loading Gentoo on it this weekend.

I've got a half dozen computers running various linux distros including a couple of distro dual boots; two are ubuntu. I have like this obsession with testing out new OSes, but I prefer doing them on partitions to virtual machines.

I have an Asus EeePC 1002HA and an Acer Aspire Revo R3610 running Ubuntu. My phone is a Nokia N900 also running Linux (Maemo but hopefully soon NITDroid and MeeGo). Finally I have an old Zonbu but the ram is busted in it and it is perm. attached, so till I figure out a good solution it is down.

Oh and my WD MyBook NAS also runs some version of Debian.

1 - netbook running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 (for the wife)
1 - notebook running Windows 7 (for my job related use and travel)
1 - laptop running Ubuntu 10.04; with CentOS 5.5, Linux Mint 8 LXDE, and Vista running in VirtualBox (my main computer)
1 - desktop dual booting CentOS 5.5 and Windows Vista, also has the Xen hypervisor installed (for playing with)
1 - desktop running Windows 7 (for DRM riddled Multimedia center, i.e., Netflix)
2 - desktops running Ubuntu 9.10 (for the grandchildren)
1 - desktop running Puppy (it doesn't get used and not worth upgrading the hardware; so, it is going to the electronic afterlife at the next electronics recycling fair in my hometown)

There's currently two computers in my home. One's a laptop, and one's my mother's desktop. Both have Windows and Ubuntu on them, with Ubuntu used the most. Both have Ubuntu 10.04

I also have a broken desktop PC which has Windows, but I used Ubuntu on it as well. This had Ubuntu 8.04 on it.

Everybody needs privacy so we decided to provide as well. Actually more than 90% of cafes follow the same sitting arrangement for privacy in our country.

Dell Optiplex PIII, running IPCop (Linux firewall/router).

iMac running OS X, & my primary distro Arch.

No.2. homebuilt job fitted with drive drawers; it primarily runs Arch, but I also have a drive with Haiku & probably another couple of drives with different distros that I'm not interested in looking at anymore.

ReadyNAS Duo; a tiny specialised box that runs a cut down version of Debian.

GPX2, a hand held that runs its own version of Linux.

An O2 XDA2, that someone gave me that runs winCE!

My wife runs an iMac & a Powerbook, both are OS X, only.

I also have another old Athlon (approx' 700Mhz) box setup with IPCop, ready to slot straight in & takeover from the Dell Optiplex PIII that does the job now, in the event that it fails of course.

There is another Athlon box sitting doing nothing as I have nothing for it to do. I don't think it has an HDD in it, can't be sure as it hasn't been looked at for quite some time.

I have two computers that dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, one computer that runs only Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, and another computer that runs only Windows XP.

Personally, I like dual booting but I prefer computers with just Ubuntu. Ubuntu kicks bum! :)

Seems like OS X is not that popular. Sorry about the poll choices....

On the Ubuntu forum it looks like OS X is not that popular; however, I monitor the OSes used to access my website. My website is not technology related. At the moment I show that over the last 3 months, visitors to my website are running 75% Microsoft Windows of various flavors, 7% OS X, 5% Linux, and 13% unknown. The 13% unknown comes from things like people blocking JavaScript in some way; such as, NoScript or people using anonymous proxy servers. The application I use to collect the data uses JavaScript.

Not sure if this thread is even the proper place to comment but Lucid 10.04.1 is sweet. I'm normally running Snow Leopard on my Macs and must run Office 2007 on *******7 or XP (as I teach that). I have Parallels on my Macs so I can do the Office 2007 thing.

I do like how Ubuntu is making Linux more Mac-like. With a few queries in the forums I was able to get an old Del Inspiron 600m and a newer HP dv6-1030US running Lucid with their wireless cards working properly. We'll see how well some of the other apps provide a "Mac-like" experience in terms of multimedia and content creation (including burning CDs and DVDs). While Ubuntu won't make me abandon OSX any time soon, I'm leaving open the possibility that, with enough development, Ubuntu may become a serious competitor.

The problem that would remain, however, is the distinct lack of good hardware for PCs. Before the rants come, I'm really talking about the quality of the trackpads and keyboards on notebooks. When I've tried using a Hackintosh (osx86 on an Intel box), the deficiencies in these components become glaringly obvious. Such a shame, too. It seems the PC vendors are in a race to the bottom.

One might suggest for me to use a genuine MacBook and install Ubuntu but, OSX is just a superior experience on a Mac so that's not a good option.

I do have hopes, however, that some PC vendor might actually pay attention to what makes a good user experience (hardware-wise) and, when combined with Ubuntu Studio, might yield a system that can take on Apple. :D

Thanks for listening and, remember: This post was meant as an encouragement to the Ubuntu folks and not as a flame to those who drink the PC Kool-aid. (and, yeah, I guess I drink the Apple Kool-aid, so let's not go there.) :lolflag:

Desktop w/ Ubuntu, rarely turned on. It's mostly a parts bin.

Wife's laptop dual-booting Windows & Ubuntu, because she needs some Windows programs that don't run well in wine

Asus eee-pc 900 that came with Windows, so I left it just in case, it's a spare, with Ubuntu on SDHC.

My main computer is an Asus eee-pc 900 with Ubuntu, see my sig.

Asus eee-pc 701 doing duty as a server, with Ubuntu server edition.

Nokia N800 running Maemo.

Palm Lifedrive with PalmOS 5.2, as well as a few older probably non-working Palms from years back.

Just got back an HP laptop from my daughter, don't know what's on it because the battery is dead and no power cord, but I have Mythbuntu ready to install when it wakes up, for use as a multimedia server.

Work, unfortunately, is all Windows.

No, just wasn't thinking strait when I made the poll.
EVERYONE: The Ubuntu options are also for Linux. Please you them interchangeably. For windows it is 1 with Windows and 2 with Windows and 3 or more with Windows. Same goes with OS X. I am not weeding out the non-Ubuntu folks. It is all open source and I even didn't use Ubuntu while being on here for a while.
