Installing 10.04, gets stuck on keyboard options

I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 from a USB drive but every time I reach the option for changing the keyboard layout and press forward, it seems to get stuck. That is, the mouse icon shows that it is loading but nothing ever happening. I even went for a shower, came back and nothing.

By the way I am absolutely new to any form of linux so if I'm doing something terribly wrong, please point it out.

You could try the alternate installer downloaded from here:
http://www.releases.ubuntu.com/

If you have a CD drive, you could also try booting from a CD rather than a USB stick.
