:-k NEED HELP. I was a satisfied Ubuntu User from 6.06 to 9.04, on my Toshiba Laptop A10 SP100, Celeron M 2.5 Ghz. 1 Gb. DDR Ram and Intel Chipset 82852/82855 GM/GME. Ubuntu 9.1 hangs continuosly, and finally 10.04 does not install at all. Black screen and hangs at init to install. Actually working with the original XP SP1 (Now SP2) that came with the laptop Recomendations will be apreciated in how to install the 10.04. Thanks in advance. :D
Note: On my old AMD Sempron 2300+, NVidia 64 Mb. 1 Gb. RAM and GigaSize Mb, do not have any problems with any of the versions.

There have been several problems with these screen cards.

If you don't mind experimenting with an unstable release, you could try 10.10:

Same issue with my Intel 82865g...not a single boot option has helped.
Will try the unstable version and report back

Thanks for the help to all. I downloaded de 10.10 Unstable and test like Live CD, only to obtain a complete blocked laptop (why, i don't now). Also downloaded Linux Mint 9 and 8. and install the live DVDs. No problems.
With Linux Mint 9 at init use: i915.modeset=0, acpi=off, Compatibility mode. With Linux Mint 8, only acpi=off. In both cases no hangs, during the test for about 10 hours. Ubuntu 10.04, and 9.10 simply does not worked in my laptop. On my Sempron 2300+ desktop, perfectly, one hard disk with 10.04.
