Wireless disabled in Dell Latitude D830

I have had a problem with wireless card for a few days now it will not connect at all to any network. When ubuntu is running with windows running no problem. Help please. ](*,)

Using 14.10 and the default Intel wifi card it all worked in first attempt.

is it a proprietary wireless card?
if so is it a broadcom one?

go system>administration>hardware drivers and click "activate" (it should work if you have wired connection, if not, try it in live CD)
