I am brand new to using Linux, and have just installed the OS on my Sony Vaio laptop. Everything works fine, but the resolution is just a bit off. I have the highest screen resolution chosen, as this seems to be the best fit, but the far right and the very bottom of the screen are chopped off. I saw that someone else posted the same problem on the same machine, but no solution was posted. I was just hoping that some fresh eyes might know how I could fix this. And as I said, I am brand spanking new at this, so if you know the solution but it involves the terminal, I would need step by step instructions on how to do it. I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but I'm really excited to get this fixed and actually start using Ubuntu!
