I have desktop 10.4 installed on a HP pavilion dv6000 laptop. I have no internet (usb wireless is not recognized). Errors are :

'ndisgtk' is currently not installed

Or

ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 not installed

My question is, I noticed that I installed the desktop edition (10.4) and not the netbook edition 10.4. Could this be part of my problem? If so, how can I install the netbook edition over the desktop edition? It will not let me boot from the iso image on restart...

Or Is it possible to get the needed files off the internet and load via usb?

The easiest is to connect with cable to the internet and then apply all updates using Update Manager.

Will this fix the problems with the usb wireless, or will this simply update the OS for using the ndiswrapper?
