Well I'm about to start a great adventure! I have an SSD in my laptop and I'd love to have trim support. I have upgraded to 2.6.33 kernel so I think I have it already, but I'd like to learn how to compile a different kernel in with ubuntu.
Are there any links or guides that I can follow to do this? I've searched around and not found too much, and I don't really even know where to begin.
Also, I think it would be cool to do this for the sake of doing it. I'd also add a few other things to my basic install that are kept out of Ubuntu. Things like VLC, and some other codecs/libraries for audio video that aren't "free".
If someone would be willing to link to some reading materials I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
