no upgrade notification

I want to upgrade my ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 before upgrading to 10.04.
Now I open up the update manager but there is no notification or "upgrade" button for me to upgrade my system. Did I miss some setting?

I would rather back up my files and go for a fresh install of 10.04, having wired internet access while doing so. Upgrading is a dangerous process, and you are on your way to do it twice.
