I have a Satellite A500, at first I received a blank screen after booting the live cd. I was able to successfully boot up the live 10.04 cd (usb) using 'live acpi=off" at the boot prompt. It looked alright, wireless was working, I didn't explore too much... I then installed ubuntu 10.04 from the live desktop...

When I boot up the new system, I again receive a blank screen after the loader, at the end of the boot options I have tried acpi=off, nomodeset, and acpi=noirq..but to no avail.. Since I was able to successfully boot up the system from the live cd I know it at least has the potential to work... (I have the insyde 1.20 BIOS installed)

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please, any help or direction would be much appreciated...

Try 'apci=off' as in this thread first post...

Beware 10.10 alpha is just that 'alpha' & not stable release so may have bugs in it. Not recommended for everyday use.
