I have a server at home with a small website and a static IP address. I have also registered a name at godaddy. I can get to my site by going to 71.114.221.3/bobsJerky but how to I "link" the domain name I just bought with this? Is it something I need to do on the server itself or something I do through godaddy?

You need to point the godaddy address to your static IP. Talk to godaddy - they have a pretty good web control panel as I recall for configuring all of your settings for your domain.

I have my godaddy domain on my home server.
All you have to do, is go into your domain settings, then find "Total DNS Control"
then under the @ name, change the current IP adress to your IP.
